How often should you post on social media?
This is a question that we get asked from our clients very often. In fact, it may be one of those most frequently asked questions that we get.
That’s why we’re addressing that in this blog.
In the year 2024, here’s our advice on social media posting frequency for your business:
The 2 major approaches to content are Quantity vs Quality.
If you’ve spent any time at all on social media, you’ve heard some influencer say “You should be posting 3-5x per day to see growth and return”
While this statement is true, it may not be effective for your business. More importantly it likely isn’t feasible.
The truth is, most businesses do not have the time or energy to create and post content that often.
So, should you give up on social media entirely?
No.
”So, what you’re saying is, I should only post the most perfect and high quality content, right?”
Well, not exactly no.
There’s a negative aspect to ONLY posting “perfect” pieces of content as well.
Anyone have any guesses what that negative is?
- Perfection doesn’t exist and it never will -
You can see with only a Quantity approach, you should see growth, but you know it’s not sustainable.
You can see with only a Quality approach, you’ll never end up posting because perfection doesn’t exist.
SO what is the answer, then?
Our clients have all heard us say “you should post as often as you can produce quality content” at some point in our relationship.
You should shift your mind away from Quality and Quantity and think more of Consistency.
Think about your favorite TV show. You know it’s going to air the new episode Every Monday night at 7pm and you enjoy that consistency.
Your audience on social media is no different.
Simplify your content and get consistent.
If your content does 1 of these 3 things, you should post it:
Inform
This could be a project update, or to tell of something coming in the near future
Educate
This could be a post that explains a part of your process to a follower. They learned something as a result of this post.
Entertain
This is a chance to add some humor to your followers lives. Show some personality of your team. People love seeing personality.
So, rather than getting paralyzed by the quantity or quality methods, Post as often as you can hit 1 (or all) of those 3 pillars. Simply your content and strive for consistency.
