Who needs Video?

In today’s climate, everyone hears all of the buzz about the power of video. We hear about the power of social media and how it’s shifted to be more of a video centric platform, specifically, with short-form video. If you’re a small business owner, you hear these things and it can be overwhelming. You know you should be taking advantage of it, but you realize you just don’t have the time to take action. After all, someone has to run the business, right?

To answer the question in the title of this post with honesty: We truly think every business needs video in today’s world. The amount of video or the specific types of video that each business needs will vary and be a case by case basis. Keep reading and we’ll explain what we mean.

Here’s the good news! Every business, regardless of size or industry, can benefit from the power of video. Here’s a statistic that you might be interested in knowing. If you have a website, did you know that simply by having a video on the homepage of your website, visitors spend up to 30% more time on average on your site? Imagine how helpful that could be just knowing that you are increasing the amount of time folks are on your website because you replaced your photos on the homepage with a simple video. Take that a step further and imagine that video is a short branded piece quickly telling the customer who you are and what you do. This is a great way to set yourself apart from your competition.

What do we recommend? We recommend that every business, regardless of size, have at least 2 types of video content on their website. Every business should have that strong branded piece that tells who you are and what you do. In this piece, you are able to tell a viewer your mission, your core values, and what makes you different than your competition. The second piece that we recommend is at least one client testimonial. People have been using testimonials in text form on their websites for years, but there’s a better way! Having that exact same testimonial in video is so much more dynamic. It’s so much more powerful because it allows the viewer to see. It allows the viewer to connect. The viewer now has a much better understanding of the authenticity if your relationship with your clients. A strong client testimonial video can be the billboard that your business needs. You may be thinking, “Why do you feel so strongly about a client testimonial?” Think about the last time you were online shopping for an item. Perhaps it was an item that you were stuck deciding between 2-3 brands. If you’re honest, I bet you did 1 of 2 things to help narrow it down. You most likely read reviews of each item to see what other people were saying about it. Or, if you’re like me, you might have even went to YouTube to WATCH reviews of those items. That’s exactly what a client testimonial can be for you and your business!

At Motion Creative Media, we are passionate about what we do. We LOVE getting to help businesses grow with the power of video and social media. If the items in this post resonated with you and you’d like to take advantage of these powerful tools, let us know and we’ll get on a free consultation call to discuss how we can work together to move your business forward.
