On today's episode we're taking a look into why community is so important for us as beings.

Regardless if you're a small business owner, parent, or teen, we all benefit from having folks around us to guide us. We have people to warn us of possible hiccups along our journey, or maybe to simply be a sounding board for ideas to flow!

the Lifeboat soon is coming to together the

0:08

[Music] ju welcome to HS and Frames H and

0:14

Frames uh are we rolling might want to see your way out of there yeah we're

0:20

rolling you can either keep that or you can cut that that's up to you I will I might keep that let you and again a new

0:28

branch of motion Creative Media hems and Frames hymns and Frames how about it we're talking about uh song hymns not

0:34

the hym of your jeans ah yeah you do need to specify English language man that's tough it is tough it's tough we

0:40

reuse a lot of words um some of them can even be spelled the same way yeah it

0:46

means something different double meanings uh and then we've got obviously those instances where you know like him and him oh oh by the way the pronoun him

0:54

um all three spelled differently but if you're just verbally getting it it sounds the same um hopefully our viewers

1:01

didn't just see me vomit my gum into my cup that was nasty well they saw it but

1:06

we'll just see if it makes the actual cut if you stay on me they'll not see it very true if you cut to your angle

1:12

they're going to see but they'll see that um so yeah welcome back to Faith and frames himn and Frames any of them

1:20

frames good morning good wherever you find yourself though you could be good night wherever you are could be good I

1:26

mean happy weekend you know like all of these things could be be a Friday at 3:00 a.m. who knows it's 5 o' somewhere

1:33

as they say very true thank you Jimmy Buffett and Allan Jackson Allan Jackson you know that brings up a point oh no I

1:39

like to sing I want to get your take on this okay hit

1:45

me this is a scenario that I like to play with people completely hypothetical

1:50

if you could have one voice MH of any musician singer whatever

1:58

through the sands of time if you could have one voice whose would it be now I'll tell you mine and I cannot narrow it down to

2:07

one but it's between two okay I would pick Josh Turner very good choice

2:15

or this one might be my favorite Randy Travis I I I can see that most people

2:22

are probably going to hear that and be like those have like the simplest voices ever they're they don't sing really high

2:28

they don't have like great rank and all these things but I'm like yeah but they're just so pure Randy actually

2:34

did have some range I'll give him that he he was a little higher obviously higher range he could get in the basement too it's like they just had

2:41

such a pure voice you know like so me MH it'd be one of those two okay you and

2:48

I have played this game before uh on our way I remember your answer then yeah we played on our way to Nashville back in

2:54

August of last year okay my answer still is the same also country yeah uh country singer

3:02

little more raw than the two that you mentioned and that person is none other than the pawsome himself George Jones oh

3:08

yeah that's shocking give me George all day is shocking so he's my favorite country artist that is the voice you would pick to to yeah to have okay

3:17

George has so much I'm just gonna say pain yeah in his

3:22

voice it's very Soul field yeah um I'll still stand and die on the mountain of

3:29

he's Stop Loving Her Today is the greatest country song ever written okay I'll I'll die on that heel

3:35

well I mean so I guess a a more of a pipe dream uh a close but also very

3:41

distant third place would be uh Chris Stapleton yeah stapleton's good like I

3:46

love I love that you mean said grit right so he he's got pain in his voice

3:52

he does but he also has got range too he does yeah Chris is great but no I would pick sticking with George you know what

3:58

if I had to pick gun head Jared pick one today I'd probably pick Randy Travis I love that guy's voice ry's good R's good

4:05

one love listening to he has a couple albums that were like gospel albums and his Renditions of hymns as we were

4:12

singing some of those are so good some of those are so good um speaking of

4:17

what's good dad jokes they're good what's good dad they're good hit

4:24

me oh okay all right this one's pretty good and this is pure dad joke I've

4:31

heard this this is this is good there are three types of people in this

4:37

world those that can count and those that [Laughter]

4:45

can't yeah two words cut it out that's three that's three that is three words

4:51

right there sir three words right there sir so today I guess I'm one of those

4:57

three types of people then is this something that has a increasingly became more obvious to me

5:04

in life um you know there's a there's a big push and and solo and you and and and and

5:13

bootstraps and all those things youve heard all those isms and there's a big push to like No One's Gonna no one's

5:19

coming to save you and all these things right so it's like it's all about you it's all about you yep

5:24

and I just I have just through life and as time goes on it's this becomes

5:30

increasingly more obvious is the importance of uh networking uh

5:35

community and having people around you yes uh that's in business that's in

5:43

personal growth uh that's in spiritual growth that's in just life yeah um but

5:50

it's it's something that's become a lot more obvious to me really probably I started to to to Really hone in and pick

5:57

up on it at that strong mom conference yeah um because they were very very very big proponents of community and sharing

6:06

and and just doing this thing together right and so there theirs was very specific to mothers and and the

6:12

struggles that all those mothers are going through um but since then you know we've

6:18

joined the art of documentary Community um we have really been uh to some really

6:25

good networking events like literal networking events from a business perspective um well I mean Heck from The Art of

6:32

documentary specifically like we've now been able to break that off into like a I'll call it a small group true uh we've

6:38

had small groups now we wouldn't have even been in Nashville shooting strong mom had it not been for had it not been

6:44

for the aod community and a referral from our buddy John Wiest John mother hecking West yeah John Wist so like and

6:54

we were just guest on his podcast not too long ago probably link that in there because want to uh um expose our

7:03

listeners to the garbage that uh I think it's totally fitting because we talked about some inag issues that came up in

7:10

our last episode absolutely all right we're going to link it in the description below Entre we'll link the

7:15

EP joh Bonnie yes anyway Community YES Network we ultimately ended up with a

7:23

job paying gig as a result of this Network yes and

7:30

this community that we had joined had we been like nah dude we got this we can do this on our own we don't need to join

7:36

that group um there's no value there whatever whatever excuse we would have

7:41

told ourselves to not do yeah look at all the things that have now happened that wouldn't have happened right had we

7:48

not done it had we not done it um so yeah it's it's one of those things

7:53

where I have learned yeah you can't do it alone mhm

7:58

well let me phrase that you probably can do it alone going to be pretty tough but at what cost you know what I mean it's

8:03

going to you're going to make a poop ton of mistakes it's going to take a poop ton of time yes um whereas you could

8:10

have saved yourself a lot of mistakes a lot of Heartache a lot of stress a lot of all these things if you had uh you

8:16

know people in place to help you along that way oh yeah which you're a big proponent of um you're a little easier

8:22

to delegate than I am I'm not even talking about like delegation but like specifically with like you know uh

8:29

having people uh around you that uh that help

8:35

fill voids so like I should have known this right I played team sports growing up um and a quarterback is nothing

8:42

without his lineman right uh quarterback has no one to throw to if he doesn't have receivers he has no running back to

8:48

hand it off to if he doesn't have you know what I'm saying so it's like it's all these things but it takes all of them um and yeah that should have been a

8:56

little more obvious to me um but is something I've learned and something I want to talk about today sweet I think

9:03

we can do that but before we talk about that let's think this week's

9:08

sponsor this week's sponsor none other than animals west of Greenville

9:14

Tennessee at animals West your pets are our passion our dedicated team offers personalized care Advanced treatments

9:21

and a warm loving environment yeah because at animals West every tale tells

9:26

a story Tony M Amanda and the crew down on the Newport Highway thank you for

9:33

sponsoring this episode of faith and Frames thank you for sponsoring Jared and I here at motion Creative Media there you go taking care of these

9:39

animals as you say absolutely meat taters Jarry get us to the meet taters

9:45

yeah so yeah I would just start out by saying that you know it it is very much

9:50

like a team sport MH everybody has different strengths right and on the inverse of that

9:58

everybody has weaknesses but the cool thing about having community and and team and and uh network is where you're

10:06

weak someone else can come in with their strength and fill that void um and so

10:12

we've seen that um as a result of our networking events specifically with our networking

10:18

events just this week alone we have had great calls with some of our smaller

10:24

communities and and one-on-one talks with people that we've networked with we have learned about tools MH that we

10:30

otherwise would have never yeah like actual practical tools yeah practical tools like websites applications these

10:36

things can help you with bus software like all of these things it's like had we not had that

10:42

conversation we wouldn't be privy to at all yeah um and like for instance with

10:49

uh when we were talking with Brian we were talking about uh tactics and things on LinkedIn right and so he showed uh

10:56

some software and tools that can help you be a lot more effective on LinkedIn

11:02

and I had never heard of these and I'm a tech guy like I come from you love LinkedIn I like LinkedIn you're on I had

11:07

never heard of specifically one of the tools that he had mentioned yeah I was

11:12

very intrigued by that but again none of that would have happened without Community without networking Community

11:18

um so I'm going to back it up a little bit because you mentioned that I'm typically a little easier to coer into like a a community style situation

11:26

environment and I want to speak to some of the reasons internally why that is for me and this may help somebody who is

11:34

like well no I am that Lone Wolf I don't need to to reach out to other people yeah for me it's kind of three-fold I I

11:41

have three applications as to why I love uh being a part of community I actually

11:48

you know gain energy from yeah community and I also have practical application

11:54

right with why I do participate in community and this goes back again to just life experience you know business

12:00

experience things like that um but the number one reason that that Community for me is so important and why I think

12:06

it can be important for others too and you mentioned this because this is something that when I heard you talking

12:12

about it I was internally giggling because it's almost like Jared's finally like discovering something that I've

12:19

known for a long time if we go back to our aod calls um the the course that we were in we started off every Monday call

12:27

with what well we talked about when Bingo w we talked about wins every single

12:34

Monday so Point number one with me for community and networking is when I am in

12:40

a community and a network of people who I know are winning that is so

12:46

encouraging for me that helps me get through even like valleys the reason that helps me get through valleys is

12:52

like okay I might be in a valley right now M where no I I've not got the winds falling I've not got the shots falling

12:59

whatever it but knowing that there are people out there that do have those Fallen that just lets me know hey

13:05

there's actually some WIS out there like I'm not by myself I'm not I'm not sitting here and there's nobody else in

13:11

the world that I can help you know whether that be with business whether that be even with life wins like even

13:16

hearing heck some of your your family wins in the aod uh meetings specifically

13:22

like got chicken coop put together this weekend like heck yeah that's more than I got done this weekend even on the

13:28

family side it's like yeah hearing those things are so encouraging whether it be in life whether it be in business so

13:34

that's that's Point number one for me with Community is just putting yourself in the room with people who they're

13:41

winning understand they're winning today tomorrow you may be the guy that's encouraging them yeah that's true maybe

13:48

the the turns have tabled yeah as Michael Scott would say absolutely maybe the tables have turned and and next week

13:54

you're the guy that you've got to help this guy that's in the valley so that's again Community for me is big and I love

13:59

this topic and I'm glad that you chose it today because I've been turned on to this information for a long time um just

14:06

having people around you that you're seeing victories you're seeing them improve you're seeing them get better

14:11

maybe in Life or in business those are all things that for me yeah are encouraging right I can see that I still

14:18

have room for improvement I can see that there are still winds out there and I can see there's people that I can still help um so that's practical application

14:25

number one for me with Community specifically Point number two with Community for me and network is like

14:33

actual usable skills and talents so you mentioned it I typically

14:39

tend to be first we'll even talk about it like in a delegation situation I

14:44

typically find myself quicker uh to try to find somebody to

14:51

fill a gap that I have right um no different than like with Brian on on his

14:57

call this week we learned about a software that we didn't know about that could help us with a platform so that is

15:03

a skill that Brian had and some knowledge that Brian had that I am now instantly turned on to right just

15:09

through talking with Brian yeah and and whether I apply that or not that's up to me now yeah but but you Le got it right

15:16

I instantly essentially raised the value of my skill set because I was able to

15:22

plug into his skill set right and I couldn't have done that without a network if we even go back to how we met

15:28

Brian H it was through Community it was through an invite to a meeting yeah had

15:34

no bus probably that we had no business being at but it was an invite to a meeting where we met Brian we connected

15:40

with him we sat down for coffee yep we didn't get the information in the first meeting even the first the first meeting

15:45

with Brian where it was just us and him well hopefully hopefully this week's wasn't the last I mean right hopefully it wasn't the last but even the first

15:51

meeting that we had with Brian like it was basically just Rapport building like here's what I'm doing you know what are

15:57

you doing what can we do to help other specifically in business um but through

16:02

that we kept communication going and kept it open to where with this most recent meeting like he was able to

16:07

reveal some things to us that he's like I think you guys can benefit from this right so there's there's so many

16:13

practical applications from networking Community that's Point number two is you are instantly through having uh being

16:21

surrounded by good people surrounding your people that or surrounding yourself with people that do have skill sets

16:27

other than yours you are instantly turned on to I'm just going to call it the dictionary of skills yeah that you

16:33

now have the option to pick and choose from right there's there's application there uh third thing for me with

16:40

Community specifically why I believe it's so important and why networking is so important is you are opening yourself

16:47

up to new audiences true at all points in time yeah so had we had we sheltered

16:56

ourselves away in this little corner of East Tennessee that we live in and say we're we're a media company but we're

17:02

only going to focus on us and do what we want to do and and XYZ and we're not going to communicate with other people

17:07

we're not going to go to these networking events we're not going to join these uh online communities we have

17:12

at that point in time limited our audience right so with community and networking for me again practical

17:18

application is you are opening yourself up to a world where people can see you that would in no other way have the

17:25

ability to see you yeah um so those are three really big points for me again I'm glad you brought this topic up um three

17:32

really big points for me as to why community and networking are so important yeah as you have the emotional

17:38

side of things you're seeing that other people are winning you can help them when you're winning uh you get skills

17:43

instantly turned on other skills and instantly turn on to new audiences new people so so one of the things that like

17:50

um that I think is is is is apparent is like if you think of if you think of

17:57

like a church yes right not everybody is the preacher

18:03

right not everybody is the choir leader right not everybody is the Sunday school

18:09

teacher right but it takes everybody to make the church to make it work and so like some people uh it I mean one of the

18:17

things that I've I've enjoyed through networking and just understanding the power of community is uh you may get a

18:24

text from somebody yes that maybe you're in a valley maybe you're running through

18:29

a t time looking at quitting whatever it may be but you get that text out of the

18:35

blue that's like you know keep doing what you're doing MH like I'm really enjoying it they didn't know that you're

18:41

struggling or what's going on in your mind they don't know any of the thoughts that's happening um oh and by the way as

18:48

a small business owner there's plenty of those struggling times absolutely but like it's it's that's one thing with

18:53

Community is like okay that's that person's strength is is to to let the person know I'm thinking of you praying

19:00

for you um had you on my mind whatever I would encourage people

19:06

to if you do have somebody randomly pop on your mind yeah reach out to them

19:11

probably a reason you don't got to you don't got to be and learn and and be privy to what situation is but I'm

19:18

telling you those words of like hey thinking about you yeah is there

19:23

anything I can do just that reach out yeah that that word of encouragement

19:29

um again you just you just never know what somebody's going through and uh so the power of community there is is is

19:35

very evident um plus too I mean you know you're sharing wins yeah heck on the

19:42

inverse of that you can share the losses uh the struggles

19:49

because here's the thing like they if if you're if you're in a filmmaking group M

19:54

uh uh of business uh you know videographers and and media business people

19:59

chances are they've probably experienced some of those they've probably experienced it you you could also be

20:06

exposing them to something that they need to look out for maybe they've not experienced it yet but it's like oh shoot I didn't know that could happen

20:12

yeah you're waving the flag Paul R so it's like oh okay but all of that helps

20:17

somebody and so the the cool thing with even so like with aod uh we've been in

20:23

some exclusive groups but now it's fostered into a very specific close small group small group group of people

20:29

who what we have like bi-weekly calls with them and so it's it's literally

20:35

sharing with one another you know what we're doing yeah um what we've seen work

20:42

uh what's currently going On's not working do we need to tweak you know and

20:47

you're also able to to use the uh the group as a sounding board right it's like hey I'm thinking about doing this

20:53

yeah but I don't have it quite figured out let's talk about it prom exam ex Le

20:59

Murray yeah that's on our calls literally asked us as we were getting off the other day hey one of our first

21:06

phases for for a new direction we're going in our business is we want to do a podcast yeah just at the very base level

21:12

what equipment are you guys using right and he asked us that and John that but that's a a again a practical application

21:19

that you know Murray was able to tap into his Network in community for because obviously we're shooting a

21:25

podcast now right John shoots a podcast so he was able he didn't have to Google it he didn't have to take time to do

21:31

self research and spend the time like no he's got access to us was a resource at

21:36

that point it's what we you know and it's been very symbiotic there have been certain calls uh these pinned him with

21:43

documentary questions where it's like okay it was a little heavy on us this

21:49

time yeah um next next call maybe we don't have anything to to to discuss but

21:56

we can listen at that point and so like all comes around and it and it ends up working out um and like oh case in point

22:05

we were looking at maybe putting together um you know some specific packages for a service y we sent over

22:12

our preliminary we'll call it rough draft um it's like hey if if you got

22:18

this as a pitch to this service what would you know what's this look like to you right oh dude they picked it apart

22:24

because they were like okay what about this right here it's not clear to me right I'm glad you said that because I hadn't

22:30

realized that it was clear to me because I typed it up right you know what I mean so it's like all of those things are benefits from Community uh and from

22:39

Network and another thing that I've just thoroughly enjoyed

22:45

is even within that little subset we all have strengths and weaknesses already

22:51

and so like we'll take John again we'll pick on John yeah he is wanting to Pivot into more of an editorial role he wants

22:57

to be an editor so like what he's realizing is like that's his strengths is he wants to edit so well editing and

23:03

like project management I'll call it well so like on his front that means when he's looking at projects and he's

23:10

submitting proposals and putting together budgets he's now pricing in Guess Who us us to fill the voids that

23:18

he's leaving yeah and on the inverse we're doing the exact same thing we're pressing things it's like okay

23:25

now we're not the best editors or we or the 's not there or whatever so it's like we're think better editor yeah

23:32

we're thinking of of offloading the work to John right so we're H we're giving him work and so like it all well

23:39

everybody goes up from there everybody goes up from there and it just I mean sure you could try and do it all by

23:44

yourself yeah all the time well and it's been you know it's been revealed to us

23:50

so many times over the importance of community um I know heck here on the podcast we've had justice on a couple

23:56

times now yeah with Justice specific specifically I mean how how many jobs have we done with each other and for

24:02

each other that I know for a fact and he may think differently because we may be idiots that actually downgrades his

24:08

Productions but I know for us specifically like the things that we've had justice on like he's been pretty

24:13

valuable uh pretty valuable in that mission being accomplished specifically like with strong Mom oh yeah you know we

24:20

had to have him on that production in order to accomplish the mission that that that specific one needed yeah um so

24:27

there's there's always those times where no the community we've been able to raise each other up strictly on the

24:33

Practical side of like swapping business back and forth that's true you help us we're helping you we're all growing up

24:38

at this point in time and and with Community I think that's one thing that's fostered so very easily versus

24:45

when you have like the Lone Wolf mentality like if I'm a lone wolf the only thing that I'm thinking of at that point in time is I need my next meal I'm

24:52

in survival mode I'm not giving anything to anybody I'm I'm taking everything that I can get sure and

24:58

the inverse of that is with Community like no the the collaboration versus

25:04

competition mentality within Community is so strong because we realize like no

25:09

it does take collaboration yeah it does take working together especially

25:15

especially on projects where like we know that we cannot as two people accomplish them not effectively anyways

25:21

well I mean so like you even take it outside of like what we do like if you think of just any business yeah there's

25:27

a reason why there are weekend conferences on

25:33

topic Fillin the blank yep um and there's a there's a reason

25:39

why people go to those yeah um guess what you're going to be surrounded by

25:44

people just like you yeah like-minded folks so you're going to meet contacts first off that you can then keep in

25:50

contact with I mean you can you've got uh now you've got a resource in

25:55

Connecticut or whatever I mean there are so many things that happen as a result of of networking um and specifically

26:04

we've we've been uh to a few local consistent networking groups yeah um and

26:10

those can get kind of get a bad rap uh those can kind of get a bad rap from from you know people kind of on the

26:16

outside looking in right uh and some of them may not be that great yeah not

26:21

every Community is a good Community I I will say that like there are some that you may want to avoid at times but like

26:28

uh it's it's there's a few of them that we've seen and been uh sort of exposed

26:33

to lately that I really see a lot of value in yeah uh it's like okay they are

26:39

constantly I think they meet weekly or uh bi-weekly whatever the frequency is

26:45

is is irrelevant but like they meet and they're constantly talking and they have structure and they have uh like referral

26:51

incentives and uh you know there are pats on the back for like hey hey I

26:58

referred um I referred some work to to you uh did they reach out so like

27:04

there's this constant and it's just constantly stay in top of mind H people having each other's backs yeah cuz I

27:10

mean here's the thing you know people that I don't know I know people that you don't know there's going to be some overlap but there's also people that

27:16

don't overlap right same thing with anybody yeah um the chances of of you

27:22

needing media content maybe you don't right you probably know somebody who does the chances of you needing new roof

27:28

today maybe not but you probably know someone who does and if you don't chances are you're going to come into

27:34

contact with somebody in the future fure who is and so it's like there's the there's the benefit at that point of

27:40

I'll call it literal networking yeah uh that's that's a little more General than like community community I'm kind of in

27:45

my mind compartmentalizing it to you know your smaller groups uh where well

27:51

too it's more gener it's more uh like like-minded you know more specialized and I would say too with like networking

27:57

specifically a lot of people really do relate that primarily to business yeah it's like networking is is more so a

28:03

business term but I mean even on the you on the personal life side networking and Community for me are

28:09

interchangeable um if if I need to let's say we'll just go back to the church example if I know that I'm struggling

28:15

somewhere spiritually you know it may be advantageous for me to network with someone in my church Community sure say

28:22

hey this is what I'm struggling with I know that you've talked about this subject before like I need some help

28:27

here yeah um so there there's there's multiple different things that are interchangeable within networking

28:32

community so we've talked about the why the the why Community the why networking

28:38

is so important what are some things that if if a listener out there is like

28:43

yeah I know I need this I I know that I'm a lone wolf right now and I don't want to be what are some like actionable

28:52

Steps yeah how do I even find a community well I mean that can kind of be difficult um I would say a great

28:59

place to start is look at Facebook groups MH I mean honestly most people today have a

29:06

Facebook account um and there are some really really good Facebook groups out

29:12

also some bad Facebook groups out there you've got to try them out and you know figure that out for yourself but like

29:17

say say you're a photographer yeah well there's plenty of those right we're in

29:23

one yeah photographers of Greenville oh yeah here just in town yeah that is a specific group

29:28

yeah of Greenville based photographers I have lately really

29:34

enjoyed that group oh Bonnie's doing a great job with the prompt the promps right and so like that's constantly

29:41

challenging us to either go out and take a photo or find an old photo that fits

29:47

this particular word yeah like this uh this past week was like repetition right

29:53

it's like okay what is my interpretation of repetition yeah

29:59

I chose a photo of a dog and the owner because I know they go on a daily walk

30:05

they go on a daily walk so that's repetition to me but like the cool thing too and this is kind of a side Trail

30:12

it's kind of a rabbit Trail I didn't mean to go here but like with that group specifically I'll see

30:17

answers in those comments it's like you know I never would have thought of that

30:23

oh yeah so like you can even be inspired well can being inspired and then on the

30:29

inverse of that I'm sure that I've discouraged plenty of people from like ever looking at any of my work because they probably look at that and they're

30:34

like I don't know what you meant there and that's horrible but anyways the the beauty of it is with with that Community

30:41

there are different styles of photographers even within our town yeah

30:46

so what you just said I didn't think about that interpretation of this prompt I want to go that

30:53

now Ashley posted um the I actually know the twins but she posted a photo of

30:59

twins yes for repetition I was like I would have never thought of that yeah that's really smart that fits I like

31:05

that I would I mean so it's like again it's the same thing and I think you posted a structural one Y where like arure architecture right like it

31:11

repeated I was like okay that makes sense but like it's really cool to see other people's interpretations yeah and

31:17

that's just another benefit of community but we were talking about finding right um there Facebook groups Facebook groups

31:23

are great place sour and Mama right now there's a million sour Pages out there

31:29

there are Pages groups uh some of them are private some of them are public but you can join those and probably what

31:35

you'll find is like even from from there you'll see more exclusive groups like

31:40

there are I'm sure there are like school like the app uh patreon other platforms

31:48

um that you know may have a paid level of subscription or whatever but like that is a good place to start I would

31:54

always start with Facebook whatever you're interested in um I would dare say there's a Facebook group for it yes and

32:01

there are probably people out there who would be more than glad to accept you in their group and also too with Facebook

32:06

just side note Facebook groups are free yeah yeah so like there's no no cost to

32:12

you to join these groups no and and even too locally um I actually see quite a bit of advertisement on like flyers okay

32:20

for like local groups like I know I know one that's big uh here in town specifically I think is is it Mother's

32:26

Day out or something like that yeah yeah whatever what the name of Facebook yeah they're on Facebook too but I actually

32:31

see flyers from from places like that too here locally so there's all kinds of ways to get into like your local uh your

32:36

local communities and local groups on the business side of things I'm going to venture so far as to say this for

32:43

practical application and finding a business group no different than what we did with aod we found aod through

32:51

YouTubers yeah that we were following so on the business side of things whatever your Niche is I don't care if you're a

32:57

an auto detailer or a you know a siding pressure washer or you're in photo video

33:03

Whatever find somebody on one of these platforms like a YouTube like an

33:08

Instagram heck even like a Facebook follow them and I would dare say a lot of the folks that are doing it big on

33:15

these platforms are probably offering some sort of community sure with aod specifically we found the accelerator

33:22

program which was a paid program and I'm going to go ahead and tell you this if you're uh adverse to paying for a

33:31

community yeah I'm gonna tell you it's worth it so long as you have the funding if if it's a good financial decision for

33:37

you yeah I think it's worth it in the sense of how curated was that Community

33:43

oh yeah it was great it was so curated for this specific topic that we were there for and again we gained so much

33:49

knowledge from it just from the wins from the Practical advice that other people in our industry were trying and

33:54

things that were working things that were not working we got to meet some figures that we didn't want to model after oh yeah which was also great

34:01

information sure so the the cool thing with a a paid Community like that is the

34:07

content at that point in time and the community itself probably a little more

34:13

curated a little more dialed in yeah we knew of the what 25 people that were in that group with us exactly what they

34:21

were there for oh yeah they were the very same mentality that we had and that was good for us yeah it was nice yeah

34:27

well I mean another way I guess is uh maybe you're not big into social media

34:33

uh online so a more um inperson approach would be

34:38

to I mean truly join a chamber yes um but here here's here's the caveat to

34:45

that you're only going to get out of any of these things what you put in what you put into it all right and so like what

34:51

do I mean by that I mean okay so the chamber they're going to have consistent events if you become a member you're

34:57

going to be privy to this schedule of events they're going to have breakfast they're going to have lunch they're going to have all these things and

35:03

they're pretty good about telling you in advance so like you you've got to be mindful of it if you see an event that

35:09

you want to attend say it's a networking event for breakfast or whatever block that out in your schedule get your butt

35:15

there yeah head to it and you're going to be in front of people that you probably would have never been in front

35:20

of otherwise and so but it takes the action it takes the discipline of you being there now how does that translate

35:27

into an online community well we heard about it in the strong mom thing some of the testimonies of the ladies was I was

35:34

so hesitant to start posting and to start sharing and to start providing input because of I don't know perception

35:42

fear whatever they didn't want to put into it and they were just kind of receiving right what do you call those

35:48

people uh I call them lurkers call them lurkers right you know it's the people who are like oh I'm going to I'm going

35:54

to consume this but yeah I'm never going to pour into it really you get you start

36:00

to get so much out of it from when you start to be vulnerable whatever

36:08

sharing your experience with whatever Community is that you're in if you start to share and you start to put in you're

36:15

going to learn that like it's going to come back to you it's going to come back to you you're going to reap those benefits from it um and so like on an

36:21

online community you've got to be you've got to participate let's take the greenville's uh photographer thing yeah

36:28

I I don't know how many members are on there like two or 300 almost okay over 200 right now on average that are

36:35

participating in that Weekly prompt not 200 not 200 now maybe those are inactive

36:40

Facebook accounts all those things take that in there you know into consideration but like okay there are

36:45

people who in my opinion are missing out oh yeah on

36:51

inspiration uh networking all of these things because they're not putting anything into it it's just like um you

37:00

know can't agree chamber events yeah if you don't ever attend these networking events these

37:06

meetings well guess what they're probably not going to come to your house you probably aren't going to get much out of it right so you're only going to

37:12

get out of what you put into it yeah so I would encourage you to quit being shy

37:18

yeah whatever shy looks like whether it's behind a keyboard in an online community or whatever yeah put into it

37:25

like pour into it yeah you'll reap benefits I can agree with that I can agree with that I think every

37:31

single time every single time that we've placed ourselves in a community or or even individually I know you're a part

37:36

of communities that I'm not a part of and vice versa but every single time that we or I or you have placed

37:42

ourselves within a community and actually been active and actually put effort into it um I personally and you

37:48

may think differently I personally have only received benefit yeah from from

37:56

joining and being active in the communities right and it's simple stuff too like for me it's even stupid stuff

38:01

within like photography like there's some photo communities that I'm in that probably will never benefit me

38:06

business-wise probably never going to you know donate any dollars to me but just from just from being in that

38:14

Community I have gained so much knowledge and inspiration and practical application into just like my photo

38:20

Journey I'll call it right that's just one little example yeah as far as Community goes well so I I just it just

38:28

now popped into my head like another it's it's online but another thing that's really big right now are

38:35

um is is online courses yes okay most online courses are going to come with

38:42

some sort of Community Access right like you buy this course they're going to have either a

38:49

Facebook group on the back end that's private or a Discord or some sort of platform to where all the other people

38:55

who have purchased this course are going to be active yeah and they're going to be communicating and they're

39:01

going to be sharing and so like that is I don't know in some instances maybe

39:08

worth more than the material within the course oh yeah for sure again if you put effort you participate if you put effort

39:14

into it um and are active in it you'll you'll you'll greatly benefit from it

39:20

and so that's something that I've just slowly been not necessarily uh exposed to but

39:26

it's something that I've slow we realized is is the power of of networking and Community um it's no

39:34

different than like in business with the networking side of things when you have a problem or even

39:41

in a pro in in a homeowner situation homeowner situation problem X comes up with your

39:47

house say your window's broken immediately what you're thinking

39:53

of is who do I know yep that can fix this window yeah you're going personal

39:58

Rel myself yeah you're going personal relationships first it's like do I have anybody whose husband's a contractor or

40:05

uh maybe who's works at Window World or whatever like if they don't what are you doing but you're thinking of your

40:11

network right your immediate Network then you're asking that you're asking and most people end up on Facebook who

40:17

are your window replacement recommendation like drop them below right so it's like again Network because

40:22

only your Facebook friends are seeing that so it's like it's again it just speaks to

40:27

the incredible importance and benefit of of network and Community yeah and how

40:34

instantaneously information can be track uh how

40:39

instantaneously information can be like what's the word I'm shared I mean just

40:45

yeah uh how instantaneously information can be shared to you yeah it doesn't take years to get some of the things

40:51

that we've gotten from communities in minutes oh yeah you know just a little bit of effort absolutely I like this I I

40:58

like the fact that you brought this up today yeah um well it kind of It kind of picks up off of

41:03

um you know we we were asked a couple weeks ago now to uh to expound

41:10

upon dadum yeah right uh and again don't

41:16

take any advice from it other than like what not to do um because I've certainly not got it figured out

41:22

but there is help in or at least for me and I guess it's

41:28

kind of the misery loves company type thing right so it's like there is there's comfort in knowing

41:35

that ah I'm not the only one right that feels this way or has this problem or

41:44

sees the world this way or whatever like I'm not alone right

41:51

because yeah I mean that's that's something that I feel like dads just historically have not done a

41:58

great job of because we like to bottle things up me and my wife have been talking about this recently keep things

42:03

in and I'm hor that way growing up we're groomed to you know always be tough and don't show emotion and you know XYZ

42:10

right but it there's comfort in knowing like no this other guy who's a dad and a

42:17

husband like he's going do this you know he's kind of messed up too it's like okay I'm not the only messed up Point

42:23

yeah cuz you know the world can be a very isolating thing even with social media right you know and so again I've

42:28

just learned kind of piggybacking off of and going deeper in in from the dadum talk

42:35

uh the importance of business uh personally spiritually um the importance

42:42

of community because here here's here's I guess my overarching theme

42:48

everyone has some sort of value to offer yeah to someone now that doesn't mean

42:54

everyone can provide value to everyone right but and I love the way this guy pointed

42:59

it out he goes you know you think of like skill levels 0 to 10

43:05

MH wherever you find yourself in your spiritual journey whatever like if

43:10

you're a five you can help a zero one two three and a four

43:18

right and possibly other fives possibly other fives but like how are you going to get better you're going to need to

43:25

look to the six through the 10 right so I you know it's it's it's discipleship that model was displayed in the Bible um

43:32

it's it's it's a it's a model that has been advised it works it's there for a reason it's the same thing in business

43:38

right it's the same thing in personal growth it's the same thing in anything that you do if you want to get better at

43:44

XYZ yeah got to find someone who you think is above ahead of you at that

43:51

process uh if it's photography yeah you need to be modeling yourself after a

43:57

photographer that you know you think is ahead of you in the photography game I'll make my point to this and this will

44:04

kind of be my final point when it comes to community whether it be spiritual

44:09

Community family community business community no church was ever built with

44:15

one man standing on a piece of dirt by itself no business has ever been built with one man standing on a piece of dirt

44:21

by itself no family has ever been built with one man sitting on a piece of dirt

44:27

by it it always takes more than I yeah it takes more than I it's a we effort in

44:36

everything we do it's it's how we are designed yeah like you said with discipleship discipleship is one of the

44:43

well it is the greatest example of community that's ever existed yeah um because our creator mhm knew that we

44:51

couldn't do it alone yep you know have on each other I would agree with that

44:56

hopefully something we've said today makes even a lick of sense yeah just a

45:02

smidgen just two dumb dads over here just two dumb dads who are hesitate to say learning maybe

45:09

figuring some things out um I'll just say we're actively figuring actively yeah it's a journey that destination

45:15

doesn't exist uh but if this did resonate with you if you're a listener or or a viewer Jared there are some

45:22

things that our audience can do what are those they can uh well first off we got

45:28

a text uh some feedback yeah like we both personally got feedback yes as a result

45:35

of the last episode where it's like I love what you guys said M um and again

45:42

that's just speaking to that person's skill right that's that's what you're an encourager and we appreciate you

45:47

absolutely and so yeah reach out let us know if uh this made some sense to you

45:54

uh also let us know if you want us to shut up um yeah I mean tell us to quit I

46:00

probably won't because I'm too dumb to quit but there we go uh reviews leave us a rating stars and bars stars and bars

46:07

we read all the comments good and bad good and bad and yeah any feedback whatsoever I dig it be super helpful on

46:15

that note here's the hard part yeah oh uh well goodbye farewell to you

46:24

my friend he didn't make that very hard y'all have a good one we'll see y'all
